truly inspirational..this helped me to recall similar incident of mine; I wanted to be badly in a school-team sport and played that day like I was champion ; not a single word said and I was in team next day.

shame on me; i had left that part of mine long back

Awesome story.

My parents are immigrants. They left what was then communist Yugoslavia.

One interesting part is that they knew they belonged in a country like America -- even before they knew the difference. They just felt like there was a better way to do things. Part of it was idealism that faded a bit when you realize not every Joe on the street gets to go to the moon.

But for the most part, the thinking is correct.

This is not only an excellent anecdote about persistence, but also a reminder of what makes for a vibrant entrepreneurial and intellectual culture: people like this. It's a shame that it would probably be much harder for Andy to come work in the US if he tried today.

Thanks Adam. It's not surprising that he went on to the success he had at Intel. Anything is possible when you want it badly enough.

Great post - there are moments in life that seem inconsequential on the surface, but if you can grab that moment with both hands and give it everything you have, the results are often incredible. Good luck with Xobni -- hope you guys have a lot more of those kinds of moments.
