HubSpot sells to marketing people. From what I've seen so far they're techier and geekier on average than sales people.

Hi Adam,

"Most products for sales people are driven by sales people to begin with, and most sales people don’t have good product and technical instincts."

The name SalesForce is a bit misleading as it is essentially a full blown Customer Relationship anagement tool comparable to Siebel and Oracle but SaaS. I have the feeling that customers do not exploit the possibilities of SalesForce enough and agree that SalesForce is driven by salespeople in most companies.

I disregard the comment about sales people not having good product instincts....

"This is a hole in the SalesForce workflow"
100% true - this is a big hole in SFDC. There should be a sync between customer accounts outlook emails.
"I think that’s why there’s a long tail of vendors; nobody dominates because nobody is adding value in a systematic, high quality way."

I had the same experience lately: tried out some third party solutions for SalesForce and they just don't seem to be working 100%. I wonder where the cause here is: the 3rd party companies not able to produce quality? SalesForce not cooperating? Have no clue but the 3rd party eco system that has evolved around SalesForce isn't really adding value - at the moment.

“There’s a lot to be done.”

Let’s do it.
